Abstract: The Rulers of India series was conceived to make available the key features of Indian history through biographies of the successive princes, generals and administrators of the country. This first set focuses on the early Indian princes, including Akbar, Asoka, Aurangzib, Madhava Rao Sindhia and Tipu Sultan. It include works by key authors of the day such as Stanley Lane Poole writing on the great Babar and George Bruce Malleson on the Buddhist emperor Asoka. With a new introduction by a leading contemporay scholar these rare volumes are now brought together as a set to provide a highly informative and readable overview of the key figures in the early history of India.
