dc.description.abstract | A unique composite culture revolves around Lord Jagannath, the presiding Hindu deity of Odisha. A number of myths and legends, along with a variety of religious creeds and sects, have mingled together to give rise to the Jagannath cult. At the same time, a myriad of faiths, including Jainism, Buddhism, Shaivism, Vaishnavism and Shaktism was assimilated into this cult. Lord Jagannath is today worshipped along with Lord Balarama and the female deity, Subhadra in temples all over Odisha. | en_US |
