Abstract: | The question how society affects folklore is one side of the coin; the other side is the question how folklore influences the perceptions of a society. As folklore changes over a period of time, it reflects the social situation, presumably the result of material changes that affect a society. This analysis is bound to throw some light on the phenomenon how the social order and social institutions articulate in the formation of the subject (individual), or how the link between social and psychic reality is to be spelt out. Taking cues from this study of people’s verbal art, the concerned authorities will benefit while formulating emancipatory policies for the masses especially women. |
