Abstract: | This was not the first time an agency of the Indian government has destroyed buildings or settlements. Inhabitants of Delhi would recall the demolition of Mandi House in the 1970s, of the Turkman Gate mohallas and the shantytowns of Rouse Avenue during the Emergency of 1975-77, and of Jamuna Pushta in the 1990s. |
