Abstract: Congregation of many languages in one classroom is a common scenario in Indian classrooms in different rural and urban areas. In many instances, one classroom comprises languages that have different structures, patterns and vocabulary. “Multilingualism” is a social situation where groups or communities communicate in more than one language with varying proficiency. This is called “societal multilingualism”.
