Abstract: | Sarala Dasa is the first major poet, designated as 'Adikavi' in Oriya literature. Mahabharata, written by him in 15th century, is considered as the encyclopaedia of Oriya culture and language. It is not a faithful translation of Vyasa's Sanskrit Mahabharata; rather it is a new creation containing the 15th century history and religious and ritualistic identities of the then Orissa. |
