Abstract: The year 1526 witnessed the extinction of the two powerful kingdoms, the Bahmani in the Deccan and the Lodi in North India. Babur' s victory at Panipat had far-reaching consequences in the Deccan also. Earlier, throughout the fifteenth century as well as the first quarter of the sixteenth century, the relations between the Deccani kingdoms and the northern states were always at a very low key.
