| Abstract: | The concepts of accessibility, excellence, and accountability are exercising today their respective pressures on the system of higher education in India. Although working at cross-purposes, all the three have powerful forces to press for their due claims in the the democratic edifice of our country. A comparative investigation in to the end-result of each pressure would reveal the real character of our democracy, which may not be in consonance with the spirit of our lofty constitution. |
