| Abstract: | Social movements are generally conceived as the manifestation of collective behavior. They are often the results of organized group efforts aimed .at some reform of the existing social structure or creating a newer one through revolutionary activities. They can also assume the form of counter-group activity for the resistance of such changes in the status quo. In this sense, Ro Robert D. Benford defines social movements as 'collective attempts to promote or resist change in a society or a group'.1 |
