Abstract: | Just as British colonialism opened the floodgates of massive migration, to hitherto very thinly populated North-East India, the Partition caused an exodus of refugees at the time of Independence and its aftermath from Pakistan to India and vice versa. At the time of Partition, the refugees here received as an unavoidable part of the political commitment made by both the state and the people. |
