Abstract: The expression 'Pleading' has been defined in Order VI rule I of the Code of Civil Procedure to mean a plaint or a written statement. A plaint is a document where by proceedings, technically called a suit, are initiated in a ,Civil Court, as distinguished from a Court exercising criminal jurisdiction, by one party, called the plaintiff, to seek some relief against the other party, called the defendant.
