dc.description.abstractThe Indian Council of Social Science Research is desirous of studying the work of social science research councils in other countries and to establish close contacts with them. As a part of this programme, Dr. Pendleton Herring, who was the President of the U.S. Social Science Research Council from 1948 to 1968, was requested to acquaint the JCSSR with the experience of the SSRC in USA and to give his views on the development of Social Science Research in India.en_US
