Abstract: The name Persia is not known to the people inhabiting the country so called by Europeans. Pe1·sian · call their land, Eran. This name is evidently from Arya or Ariya, whence we have the form Iranian and Iran. The term Persia comes to us from the Greeks, who derived it from the term Fars or Pars, the designation, at this time, of a province of Eran.
